An installation of sculptural light boxes using graphics from international maritime signal flags will spell out the newly named public docks in Sacramento and West Sacramento. International maritime signal flags are a series of graphic representations used in nautical contexts. Each flag represents a letter of the alphabet and they are used to spell out messages. Individual flags also have specific and standard meanings. The letter ‘K’ for example, represents the message, ‘I want to communicate with you’.
