This promotional video was released in the Summer of 2019 to invite people to nominate someone to be commemorated by having the public dock in Sacramento or West Sacramento named in their honor. It was animated by Benjamin Della Rosa and narrated by Sacramento-native, Levar Burton.

The Sacramento and West Sacramento public docks have been renamed to honor two amazing women with ties to our region.

The Sacramento dock has been named after Isabel Naranjo and the West Sacramento dock has been named after Etenesh Zeleke.

RIVER CROSSING: I WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU
gave everyday citizens the opportunity to nominate someone to be commemorated by having the public dock in Sacramento or West Sacramento named after them. We received over 650 nominations! Read the nominations of Isabel and Etenesh, along with a selection of others here.

The public docks face each other across the Sacramento River between Tower Bridge and the I-Street Bridge.

Why RIVER CROSSING?

During the nomination period in 2019, we asked people to think about what it means to be a citizen worthy of praise, who they want their role models to be, and who among their family and friends have been the most supportive and transformative?
